On Saturday, March 3, the Ascend Metro New York Chapter hosted the “Clarity of Presentation” at PwC. The workshop featured special guest speakers David Yi and Kevin Wong. They discussed the importance of honing your communication skills and provided tips on public speaking. The audience broke off into groups and participated in fun games and activities to practice communication skills. Over 100 people attended the event, including professionals and graduate and undergraduate students from universities such as Fordham, NYU, Rutgers, and Pace.
Ascend was pleased to have David Yi, an analyst at JP Morgan and Baruch alumnus, and Kevin Wong, a portfolio manager at Princeton Asset Management Group and Princeton alumnus. David Yi joined Toastmasters as a Baruch undergraduate to improve his communication skills and eventually became President of the club. Upon graduation, he served as President of the New York Society of Security Analysts Toastmasters. He is currently a Toastmaster Area Governor, overseeing six Toastmasters corporate clubs in downtown Manhattan. David won the Toastmasters Area 34 international speech contest in 2010. Kevin Wong is an active member of Ascend, and he has previously held the position of Vice President of Global Business Development at Merrill Lynch.
